The corruption of man
The pearl stongly emphasizes the corruption of man. With the doctor, the trackers, and even Kino, Steinbeck shows how much we are cought up into earthly riches and power. I think that Steinbeck makes a good point and moral for the story. He clearly shows that if we run after worldly things, we will fail in the end. What's your opinion? POST!

How is John Steinbaeck's writing style different from Ernest Hemmingway's?
I personally think that they are similar, but yet very different. In the books "the pearl" and "the old man and the sea", both situations are in the ocean. Both are very reliant on one main character (Santiago and Kino), and both have the whole good vs. evil scenario. But despite this, the moods of the two books are very different. First, TOMATS is about a very proud and heroic man, where as Kino is an Indian and he does not hold as much pride as Santiago. Also the mood is extremely different. TOMOATS has a mood of a physical war going on with Santiago and the Marlin. But with the Pearl, Kino is battling within himself and against physical men. It is a depressing book with a sad ending, and TOMATS has a happy ending. Their writing styles are similar though. They both write fairly strait to the point, and both are very talented writers. The death of Coyotito
Obviously the death of Coyotito is debatable. Who killed him? I personally think that the hunter dude killed him and not Kino. Because the only two shots that Kino made were at the guy in the lake. What do you think?

In what way are CD and EH different?
In what ways are Charles Dickens and Ernest Hemingway different from each other. I think that the fact that they lived in different time periods has a huge influence. CD was raised in a proper and more formal society, and that affects the way he writes. EH has a more straight forward approach and lives that way to(suicide). Well, that's my opinion

What if...
What if Scrooge was nice from the very beginning? What would the situation be like? I personally think that he would have tons more friends and that the spirits wouldn't of visited him. Would Marley still be alive?

How is Errnest Hemmingway's writing style different form Charles Dickens?
I think that Earnest Hemmingway and Charles Dickens writing styles are completely different. Earnest Hemmingway uses short, strait to the point sentances and Charles Dickens writes whole paragraph size ones. EA also uses a more simple vocabulary directed to the more simple and not the well educated people; whereas Dickens uses very complicated words and his sentaces are twisty and hard to understand for the common person. Personally I like EA more, because I think that he is very descriptive without using complicating, hard to understand sentances. Although maybe Dickens is more descriptive, I think he takes too many words to make a simple statement. Who's writing style do you like better?
